Stanton Optical | My Eye Lab

Creating clarity for a complex product.

Details:

My Eye Lab (Owned by Stanton Optical) came to us with a challenge. Make it as easy for customers to find their eyeglass lenses online as in the store. For this to be done correctly, I had to be embedded in their process. Researching all the steps & variations that go into finding eyeglass lenses.

My role was to take all that information and create high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, as well as design smooth user flows for customers who might not know anything about lenses.

My Creative Process

This was a significant research project because I could interact with the employees who work with this flow daily. I am listening to their responses and feeling where the snags are. This on-site user research proved the most fruitful I’ve ever had.

Going forward, I drowned myself in visual inspiration. Walking through every possible “Step-by-step” creation flow I could. Gathering the best of the best and distilling it down to a simple flow.

Seeing Beyond The Lens

In addition to the crucial lens finder, I was tasked with creating the rest of the site. This included my account, geo-targeted promo pages, schedule eye exam app, and a complex checkout. The mockups above showcase the many different screens and flows that needed to be created and approved.

Close Relationship Between UX/UI & Engineering

I strongly feel that UX/UI must stand by engineering through 100% of the project. During the site’s development, I was a part of the complete QA and launch process. I reviewed all new sections and provided feedback to ensure pixel-perfect work. At the beginning of my career, I was responsible for all front-end development of my websites. Over the years, this skill has helped me learn to speak the “Engineering” language. It aids me in every project I participate in.
